About Nirofex:
Nirofex.com is a website showcasing multimedia that I've created and developed over the past eight years. It also provides the homepage for Dr. Zoom - A powerpop rock band which I provide guitar for. The site came on-line in the summer of 2000 and has grown tremendously undergoing its 7th layout as of 2005.
The multimedia you will find here ranges from short films, music, and images.

About The Creator:

My name is Raymond Garza, and I am the creator of Nirofex. I'm 20 years old and I was born and raised in the live music capitol of the world - Austin, Tx. I first took an interest in filmmaking when I was exposed to Austin's growing film community. I picked up my dad's camera and started making short films when I was in the sixth grade. Within the next year I was on my way to making movies and creating websites.

My first video camera was a High-8 camera. I started using Adobe Premiere to edit together my first attempts at making movies. I then took a 3-month film class for kids under 18 and the result was a short film entitled "Sleeper" which was beyond terrible and should never ever be watched by any human being ever. The following year I signed up for another film class taught by a local film director named Steve Mimms. The result was the short film entitled "Movie".

The choice of software tools I use (I used to get this asked all the time) are, Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Dreamweaver, and After Effects. Shocking right?

As I was doing the entire 'short film website thing', I was also learning to play the guitar. In highschool I played with my good friend Ray Flynt, and together we created Dr. Zoom. Now that we're graduated we take our music to clubs and bars of Austin. You can check out our music by going to our myspace page.

Some of my favorite artists include the classics like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, The Beatles and The Clash. As far as newer stuff goes, I really love anything Jack White does (White Stripes, Raconteurs), Elliott Smith, Wilco, Supergrass, Radiohead & Beck.

I used to play my dad's 1956 Gibson Les Paul Jr, but then I realized its probably not a good idea to gig around Austin with an insturment as priceless as that. So I decided it was time to have my own insturment and purchased an Epiphone Casino (pictured right).

Other Dudes That Contribute:
MATT RONQUILLO - One of my best friends. I've known this guy since the third grade. He was always lending me a hand from the day I first picked up a video camera. On top of that, Matt is a pretty damn good photographer. He takes all the Dr. Zoom pics and sometimes takes behind the scenes photos while filming. He uses a Nikon D-70. You can check out some of his photos over in the pictures section.
SPRODY - Brody Kwiatkowski (left), & Spencer Moorman (right). Both these dudes are always willing to lend a hand when it comes to any kind of creative endevour. They have helped me out with filming, both in front of and behind the camera. Both of them have also helped me out with the website, each is an incredibly talented web/graphic designer. You can check out Brody's portfolio by clicking here. Spencer is also an avid skater. You can check out a skate preview by clicking here.
RAY FLYNT - When Ray Flynt is not busy drinking whiskey straight or doing keg stands, you can find him making music & playing drums in Dr. Zoom. And when he's not doing any of those, he can be seen giving me a hard time about how crappy my website looks. If it wasn't for him, I'm pretty sure my website would look crappy. Good thing it doesn't.
